Family Registry Options – Personalized, Secure, In-Person
When your child is in distress, the last thing you want is to explain their needs in the middle of a crisis. That’s why the Autism Support Unit (ASU) created the Family Registry Program — a resource designed to give families peace of mind and empower emergency responders, educators, and community members with essential, personalized insight. The registry isn't one-size-fits-all. It's offered in three customizable tiers, so families can choose the level of support that fits their needs and comfort. Each tier builds on the last, offering deeper tools for preparation, awareness, and care.
Every child with autism is unique — in how they communicate, how they respond to stress, and how they experience the world. In an emergency or unfamiliar setting, that uniqueness can either be misunderstood… or supported. The Family Registry was built to bridge the gap between your child’s world and the world around them. It’s a way to help emergency personnel, school staff, or other adults understand your child’s needs in real time, with information that’s clear, compassionate, and ready when it’s needed most.
Each family meets with ASU in person to go through the intake process, choose their tier, and receive customized support. Here’s how each level is designed:
🟦 Basic Tier
Perfect for families looking for a quick-access tool to aid in emergencies:
Registry ID Card with your child’s photo and key details
Emergency Alert Sheet summarizing your child’s needs for first responders
Entry into the ASU secure database for emergency access
🟨 Standard Tier (Includes everything from Basic)
Designed for families wanting more tailored communication guidance:
Personalized Behavior Information: What to expect, what to avoid, and what works
Sensory Preferences Overview: Loud noises, textures, lights — all documented for awareness
Emergency De-escalation notes
🟥 Premium Tier (Includes everything from Basic & Standard)
The most comprehensive plan for full home and public preparedness:
Family Support Plan with calming tools, caregiver notes, and structured responses
Custom Binder with all registry documents in one secure place
Ongoing Updates and reprints as needed when new information arises
Privacy and security are at the heart of everything we do. All data is stored through SuiteCRM, a secure platform designed to handle sensitive records. Your information will never be sold or shared without your permission.
Only the following individuals have access:
The legal guardian or authorized family member
Autism Support Unit (ASU) team
Approved providers or schools with your consent
Emergency personnel only during a verified incident
If first responders access your file, ASU will document the badge number, agency, and case details and follow up with your family within 48 hours to ensure everything was handled appropriately and offer support.
Joining the Family Registry isn’t just about being prepared — it’s about making sure your child is seen, heard, and understood in a moment when it matters most. We're honored to help you take that step.
